According to North Korea, They’re In the World Cup and Won Their Group

How crazy (or sad) is this?

According to this North Korean news broadcast, not only are they participating in the 2014 World Cup, but they won their group!

They killed Japan 7-0, and then went on to beat USA and China 4-0, and 2-0 respectively.

It looks like they face Portugal in the next round.

with your friends – hopefully the real news can find its way back to North Korea!

Update: This story is fake! As buzzfeed reported:

For a start, as this report shows, North Koreans are not only aware that their team didn’t make the World Cup; they can even watch it on TV. In 2010 a deal was announced by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union which allowed the country to broadcast World Cup matches.

There have also been questions raised about the newscaster’s dialect and the fact the voiceover doesn’t match her lips.
And as one poster on this thread points out: “The North Korean national team is fairly competitive in the AFC, particularly competitive against the South Korean and Japanese teams. As a result, the state media reports on their team a lot and the popularity of football is high among the population. They even recently built the Pyongyang International Football School…where they hope to attract internationals.”

I wish I lived in a country with made up happy news instead of the real terrible news everyday. That is hilarious though. That guy is out of pocket.
