Heard of Martin Ødegaard? This 15 Year Old is Tearing Up Norway

Martin Ødegaard is just 15 year old but is already one of the most exciting players to watch in the Norwegian top division. Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are apparently interested in the teenager, but his parents want to wait until he is 16 before moving out of the country.

Although many clubs in Norway are struggling financially, one of the benefits is that they are playing with younger kids since they don’t have the money to afford foreign players. With so many kids getting a chance at first team play and development, future stars are bubbling to the top.

Take a look at his highlights from the 2014 season:

[Jon Hartvig Børrestad]: “Martin Ødegaard, ladies and gentlemen. A wonder kid has presented himself again! With 16 on his back and 15 years on the calendar.”
[Bengt Eriksen]: “Everything he does is so playful, and so wise, and so constructive, that I have not seen the like by a fifteen year-old, at least not in Norway. And when I start to think about what I’ve seen abroad, I’m actually still struggling. That’s huge!”
[Jon Hartvig Børrestad]: “The man pictured… – The boy pictured, I apologize – is he Norway’s biggest footballing talent?”
[Steffen Iversen]: “Yes, without a doubt! There has been talk about a lot of young players this year, and here is the best of the lot. It’s like Bengt says; I haven’t seen anything close to his talent in Norway and maybe not even in the rest of Europe, so this is a fantastic talent we have in Norway!”
[Bengt]: “So much of what he does is so good, and he actually has end product as well. He’s not a kitchen whisk, standing on the wing doing – err… – school yard feints and dribbles, and then nothing more happens.”

Wow! 15?! Incredible talent. Just think if he was in EPL or Spanish development teams! I think when he turns 16, he and his family will be moving abroad… :)
