Host Tells Jurgen Klinsmann to ‘Get Out of America’

your thoughts!

Comments that USMNT Coach Jurgen Klinsmann said recently got Pardon the Interruption Host, Michael Wilbon, fired up, telling Klinsmann to get out of the country:

“I’ve known Kobe Bryant,” Wilbon said. “And you, Mr. Klinsmann, are no damn Kobe Bryant. I mean seriously, Mr. Klinsmann now wants to tell all of American sports how to work. Get the hell out. Get out of America. If everything here — you want to coach this team fine. You haven’t won anything. You’re so gutless you went out and said ‘oh, our team can’t win, we can’t win.’ You’re supposed to be such a great coach, why are they paying you? They’re apparently paying you for something you did not only yesterday, but somewhere else about 4,000 miles away. I repeat: Get the hell out. When did Klinsmann become an expert on American sports?”

So what did Klinsmann say that started this? This was his quote from the New York Times magazine in response to cutting Landon Donovan:

“This always happens in America,” Klinsmann told me, waving his hands in the air. “Kobe Bryant, for example — why does he get a two-year contract extension for $50 million? Because of what he is going to do in the next two years for the Lakers? Of course not. Of course not. He gets it because of what he has done before. It makes no sense. Why do you pay for what has already happened?”

Do you think Michael Wilbon went too far?

He did cross the line. that’s wrong with this country today. whenever someone tells you the truth, that person is demonized or looked at as an enemy because he/she is saying something many people think but are afraid to say. you can’t go as far as saying that he should get out of the country because he told the truth. my opinion…

Klinsmann is right though, athletes are highly overpaid, and many of them end up underperforming after they receive big contracts

Funny he got so offended but Klinsman is getting paid to lead these misfits ( in comparison to other countries in World Cup ) into a lions den he’s not lying to his players or the public it will be a tough test and there’s a slim chance of success nothing wrong with being honest in time US soccer will grow to American Futbol till them be happy to take part and do ur best

That comment is so stupid. America is for immigrants. At least understand the history of the country. This team has as many players from the MLS as Bradley and Arenas did.

Wilbon is right about Kobe ONLY. Klinsmann gave a bad example because the NBA is a different animal. Having said that, this is just how people in Europe are. It’s their culture and happens all the time. It’s more realistic than being politically correct like it is in America. Pau Gasol got hammered for comments he made years ago about a playoff opponent saying he isn’t as physical and has a big disadvantage. This is just a culture difference. Klinsmann doesn’t understand, neither does Wilbon.

Most of u people don’t even know who Klinsmaan is but u know what so Far hes had the best record for any American coach and is gaining confidence from US FANS but he had no right talking about kobe its a different sport and kobe deserves to b getting paid that much he might not contribute to what he use to b but he’s done alot for lakers he deserves that respect and that goes for Donovan Jurgen was acting like a dik to him and he still had alot to contribute but as long as he keeps winning games for USA then ill except the fact Donovans not in the squad !

Wilbon might want to learn a thing or two about soccer. Wilbon speaks his mind all the time and nobody tell his @$$ to leave the country. Klinsman speaks his mind and Wilbon gets his panties in a bunch.

Klinnsman is right. Why do we pay someone 50 mil for two years when their best years are behind them . It doesn’t make any sense.

Wilbon is a jingoistic piece of shit. When I saw this the other day it smacked of Skip Bayless’ dick riding and argumentative stance he always takes. Fuck both of them. Klinnsman only won a world cup, one of the hardest accolades on sports to win. That’s all

Klinsmann speaks the truth. Kobe puts butts on the seat. Their is no last hurrah going on. If there were, the lakers would build around him, or for the future. Kobe is nothing more than a high paid ambassador for the Lakers.
