Suarez Tears Meniscus – Out of World Cup?

“Suarez had an MRI scan after feeling discomfort in his knee in training on Wednesday but the AUF claim this was a result of a knock he sustained in the Newcastle game.”

Suarez went through successful surgery today.

“…he should be ready for the World Cup with an expected recovery time of three weeks.”

“However, that is in some doubt. Recovery from this type of injury normally takes between 4-6 weeks, and Suarez would be pushing those limits.

“At the very least, the procedure will cut down on his ability to train leading up to Uruguay’s opening match at the World Cup, against Costa Rica on June 14. Uruguay play England on June 19, four weeks away.”

I know I am not a professional, but I have never heard of anyone bouncing back from a meniscus tear in under a month. I guess we will find out shortly, but this doesn’t make any sense to me.
