Tim Sherwood Named Tottenham Head

Tim Sherwood is expected to get their moneys worth for the £110m spent during AVB’s watch.

“We were extremely reluctant to make a change mid-season, but felt we had to do so in the club’s best interests,” added Levy.

“We have a great squad and we owe them a head coach who will bring out the best in them and allow them to flourish and enjoy a strong, exciting finish to the season.

“We are in the fortunate position of having within our club a talented coach in Tim Sherwood.”

After the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for a world record £85m, Spurs purchased Christian Eriksen, Etienne Capoue, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Vlad Chiriches. They also broke their transfer record twice when Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela arrived for £26m and £30 respectively.

At that time, Arsene Wenger warned:

“There is a technical risk when you buy more than three players, because you unbalance the stability of your squad a little bit. It’s always difficult when you bring so many players in to predict how well they will do.

Where as AVB had no professional playing experience, Tim does. Sherwood made three appearances for England, and won a Premier League title with Blackburn before joining Tottenham as a player in 1999.

He returned to White Hart lane as part of the club’s coaching staff in 2008 under then-manager Harry Redknapp.
